DIT can give advice on whether a firm is ready to export.  If so, DIT can help with an export plan, counsel on the right markets and the right people to deal with in those markets, advise on grants for trade missions or overseas trade fairs, set up meetings, and generally help to make business happen.

Summary of TAP Terms and Conditions and Eligibility Flow Charts

DIT have expanded the TAP programme eligibility criteria, increased the number of grants companies can receive and increased the level of the grants. The following points give brief explanation on the changes:-

  • Grant lives will be increased to 12 (still counted from 1 April 2009) but at least 6 of these must be taken in the 20 emerging and high growth markets (Brazil, China, Colombia, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UAE and Vietnam)
  • Grants levels will vary from £1,500 upto £3,000 (dependent on the event you exhibit at and on whether you are new to participating at the show)
  • DIT will no longer strictly apply that part of the SME definition which requires a TAP applicant to be no more than 25% owned by a non-SME. (This is intended to apply to autonomous businesses and we reserve the right to decline an application from, for example, a business unit of a large company).
